Chocolate Gingerbread Bundt Cake

by Eat, Little Bird @ Eat, Little Bird

A Chocolate Gingerbread Bundt Cake for the festive season. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful day with your family, friends and loved ones. I managed to totally exhaust myself with all of the Christmas cooking and baking this year, but I totally enjoyed every moment in the kitchen and, more importantly, sharing the food with my family on this fun-filled day. Having decided that turkey is not quite my

Spiced Persimmon and Ginger Muffin Recipe

My parents adore bargains, especially the ones at their local Salvation Army on Wednesdays, when seniors receive a 25 percent discount. On October 12, 2016, they scored a charming set of English Royal Wessex Red Willow dishes for about $22 (discounted from the original $29.50). They bought it with the intention of gifting it to...

Jam-Filled Pikelets

Tasty jam-filled pikelets which are perfect for lunch boxes. My son started kindergarten last summer and, like in many Swiss schools, it is customary for the children to sit down to a hot lunch each day at a shared table. This practice starts as early as daycare where the children are taught to remain seated at the table, to develop social skills when eating, to clear their plates and put away their cutlery

Pho - Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup & Luke Nguyen's Tips For Making The Best Pho

Pho - Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup & Luke Nguyen's Tips For Making The Best Pho

Not Quite Nigella

It does take some time and most of that time is really in the making of the broth which if done well is layered and deeply flavoured with hints of star anise, cardamom, ginger and cinnamon. Many purists will say not to rush it and I can imagine that it would certainly affect the flavour of the broth as I saw it change over time. But once it is simmering you really don't have to do much except for skimming it once every hour or so and it makes a lot of soup-I ended up with about 4-4.5 litres of it which was perfect for freezing and using if you are in need of a hit of Pho. There is a deeply sustaining fragrant beef broth, thinly sliced beef tenderloin which is served raw and then cooks in the steaming hot soup, contrast from the soft beef shin meat, heat from the chilli and freshness from the sheaf of mint, Thai basil, eryngo and green onion.

Gingerbread Christmas Tree Bundt Cake

A moist and mild Gingerbread Christmas Tree Bundt Cake which is easy to make and looks fabulous! I had been holding off on buying a Christmas tree bundt tin for many years, especially after first seeing it on one of Nigella Lawson’s Christmas shows. Bánh Xèo – Savory Vietnamese Crêpes

Bánh xèo seems to be designed to be eaten as a family. The batter, filling ingredients, and veggies aren’t complicated to prepare, but they don’t make sense to be bought or made to be eaten by yourself. You don’t just buy 1/4 pound of pork, 8 shrimps, or buy 1/4 head of lettuce. You kind […]

Why cooking good food is enough for Adrian Graham
